ShaadiChic Event First Look - 10.25.09

It was months in the making, but with the perfect combination of talented vendors with an impeccable sense of design and detail and our amazing sponsors: Spotlight Style, Sheraton Parsippany & Select Event Rentals we raised the bar and made the first ever ShaadiChic Bridal Soiree that took place on Sunday a success!!! For those of you who made it to the show, thank you so much for your support and for those who were not able to make it - this is one show you do not want to miss, so please stay tuned for details on the next soiree!!!!

Here is a taste of what the show entailed:

Models adorned in luxury bridal wear by Attache Corture. The models mingled with brides to be and showcased the designs in center court so that brides to be could get up close and personal to see if the dresses had the look and feel of the wedding dress they had always dreamed about! Azura Bridal brought a different flavor of dresses that are inspired by a fusion of East & West design elements!

The grandious mandaps made it feel as though you stepped right into the midst of a wedding ceremony. The romantic fall flavored mandap above was designed by Prudence Designs ho paired up with Surbhi Sahni of Devi Restaurant who created a beautiful mendhi inspired cake topped with the Ganesh and garnished with real flowers of the autumn season.

The chic modern mandap above was created by Tammy of Aristocratic Designs and it was a combination of flower balls and continuous cascading waterfalls...the picture does not do it justice!

Elegant affairs designed the enchanting lavender schemed mandap and table setting fit for a princess!

The beauty bar was perhaps the star of the show! Ladies were given full makeovers- hair, make-up and even mendhi, compliments of BridalGal and Studio Sush

We didn't forget about the grooms! We gave them a place to chill out and relax and knock back some beers and whiskey...The Grooms Lounge sponsored by Jersey Street Furniture & DJ Kucha

Moghul brought some tasty treats along to share with guests

Moghul had plenty of food to keep you coming back for more....and more....and more!

Preeti Nanvaan of Preeti Exclusive Creations showcased her amazing event planning portfolio and Bollywood DJs rockin it in the corner!

Lauren & Vikas's Jewish & Hindu Cultural Celebration

Lauren and Vikas were married on a gorgeous afternoon in May, intertwining both cultures bringing together a rabbi and pandit to do a mixed Jewish-hindu ceremony.

Lauren and Vikas incorporated such traditions as the ketubah signing, drinking of the wine, the Jai Mala (exchanging of the garlands), the Saptapadi (seven steps), exchanging of the rings and feeding each other sweets.

The couple then joined their guests for the reception where everyone stayed on the dance floor all night, dancing to popular Indian, American and Jewish songs!

Anjali & Nitin- 5 days of a sensational wedding celebration!

To celebrate and kick-off the month of October we thought we'd post one of Spotlight Style's (www.spotlightstyle.com ) favorite October weddings! Anjali & Nitin were wed on October 25, 2008 (exactly a year ago from the ShaadiChic show!!!)....

The wedding consisted of almost a full week of events, starting off subtle and ending with a lavish memorable affair!

The mandap was larger than life, fit for a king and queen and guests were awed by its grand presence...

The lovely ladies who served as Anjali's bridesmaids watched as the couple drove away in a Bentley, headed to the wedding reception and celebration that they had envisioned and dreamed of for so long....

For this reception we tried something different - we though we'd shake things up with the seating arrangement and arrange the tables in X's & O's. There were long rectangular tables draped in lavender and gold shimmered tablecloths intertwined with traditional round tables and the guests absolutely loved it! It also created a really unique look in the room...

Another unique feature of the room was the projected pattern dancing across the walls. We recreated the pattern on the glass candle centerpieces that lit up the tables gobo stye! The lighting patterns dressed up the otherwise dark and dull walls. That paired with the spotlights on each 6 foot centerpiece (yes, I said 6 foot!) made the room glow and guests entered the room in pure Aww...

The lighting story doesn't end there - there were mini versions to accessorize the massive centerpieces, but the vases glowed from within...

Guests especially loved being greeted by an iced out Ganesh at the bar...

As this spectacular night drew to a close, it was time to bring out cake for desert, which keeping with the theme of the wedding reflected the originality of the couple. The cake topper was hand painted to match the bride & grooms reception attire!

This unique fusion wedding was given to us courtesy of the amazing Sofia Negron of Sofia Negron Photography ( www.sofianegron.com )

Caroline and Adam wanted to incorporate both Indian and American traditions into their wedding. They decided to do their rehearsal dinner as a shortened traditional indian ceremony: piecing together their favorite and most important parts of the ceremony.

Performed by Pandit Prabhakar Sharma ( www.desipandit.com ), it was short and sweet. The ceremony was followed by a feast of curry and other indian dishes. The next day the couple had a traditional American wedding!

Sahil Fashion Show at the Nargis Dutt Foundation Event

I had a chance to help out and see the amazing behind the scenes at the fashion show yesterday at the Nargis Dutt Foundation Annual Dinner Party! The event was an amazing show...thanks to:

DJ Kucha, who did an amazing job on the lighting and production...Sushmita from Studio Sush, thanks to who all the models looked fabulous...Dolly Parasher from Shweta Models...and Pranav Tailor who is the amazing Runway Producer for Sahil...and a great stylist!

Here are some of my favorite pics for weddings ensembles...(click on the image to enlarge it)

First let me start of by saying if I was to get married all over again (same husband ofcourse!) He would definitely be in this stunning light yellow shervani! It was just beautiful...

Creme and Gold a classic...but with the tube-top blouse...it gave the saree a real modern look!

This bridal lengha was really pretty...I loved the one shoulder cut.

I absolutely love this green saree...(especially the shading) ...The see thru chiffon with the bikini style blouse was really sexy!

My all time favorite was this stunning blue and red combo...the details were really well thought out... especially the pleating at the bottom of the skirt...and when she walked the dress flowed flawlessly..

Sushmita did the amazing job on hair and make-up on Pooja Batra for the show and then gave her a complete make-over for the final catwalk...

and the saree blouse...was really nice...especially because it brought in the yellow!

Purvi & Mitun...This Was No Ordinary Sheraton Shaadi!

Purvi & Mitun had a magical day at The Sheraton in Mahwah, NJ. The festivities began with a Friday night Sangeet and followed by a Saturday morning ceremony. For those of you that have not been to this Sheraton, the outdoor grounds surrounding the building are beautiful.....

To accent the red and pink shades of flowers lining the enchanting water fountain, Spotlight Style ( www.spotlightstyle.com ) who served as both the event designer and wedding planner, used red banners as borders giving guests a grand entrance as they entered the ceremony.

The Mandap weaved together shades of red, gold and orange, the couples signature wedding day colors.

But the most stunning element of the day was undoubtedly the bride....

We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day!

The floral arrangements and the bold and beautiful bride's bouquet radiated in the summer sun and so did the smiles of all the friends and family!!!

After the ceremony, Spotlight Studios, gave the fun loving couple and the wedding party an anything but traditional photoshoot:

The guys were being such hams that day!

As for the reception, DJ Insomnia (http://www.djinsomnia.com/ ) rocked the place all night long...no one wanted to leave!!!!

Today Indian-American couples are not unique, but fusing Catholic and Hindu wedding traditions into such a holistic and beautiful ceremony is! Photography by Larie Taylor www.larietaylor.com

Rita and Mike who were wed at the Osbourne Castle in Garrison, NY on June 13th of this year and incorporated both Catholic and Hindi rituals. It was so beautiful to see two different religions flowing in sync and to have both families feel included. Since a wedding is often a religious ceremony, many times when there is a pairing of two different cultures and religions there is a battle of whose will prevail for the wedding day, but who says you have to choose?!

Spotlight Style (www.spotlightstyle.com) , did both the wedding planning and event decor and created special decor to cater to the couples vision as well as the location. The couple wanted a very natural and rustic feel for their dream wedding that took place atop a hill overlooking miles of mountains so we used a birch mandap and since the castle sits on several acres of greenery, there were custom made signs sending guests on a directed path from one stop to the other beginning with:

Cocktail hour took place underneath a tent with a floor of white stones and sea shells

And for the reception Rita changed into a tradional American white wedding dress and guests were given Rita's Mom's homemade chai masala at the request of many of Mike's friends and family who can't get enough of it!

The entire event was catered by Devi Restaurant (www.devinyc.com) , and was beyond words. The chefs at Devi craft traditional Indian dishes with a modern twist and a splash of fusion flavors! May I recommend the kheer?!!!!!!!!

An Indian Bride Creates Her Own Cinderella Story...

One of our beautiful brides Payal took some photos with her prince charming Shounuck a couple weeks before the wedding at their wedding venue at Addison Park in New Jersey. Here is what Payal had to say about why they chose to incorporate some American style into their dream Indian wedding:

"Like most girls growing up here I always imagined myself in an American style wedding dress on my wedding day. Although I knew I had to have an Indian wedding and love Indian weddings, growing up here I was exposed to and dreamed about the Cinderella fairy-tale style wedding. I figured there was no reason why I couldn't have best of both worlds. So I decided to buy a dress, have my husband wear a tux and create our dream American wedding fairy tale through a photo shoot. The other reason I decided to do the shoot is that I am simply obsessed with dresses and this was another excuse to buy a dress!"

NYC Affair!

Nothing is more amazing than when two cultures collide…each bringing their own nuances to make a wedding special. This wedding was held in NY at Studio 450…just a great clean modern loft space! To liven it up…we used splashes of colors everywhere…

Even the programs were fun and colorful...and carried the essence of the entire event thru!
